Safety Segments 2025: RSI/MSI Prevention

February is Repetitive/Musculoskeletal Strain Injury Prevention Month (RSI/MSI).  Injuries of this kind are still a critical concern in the industry, as this was over half of the total reported injuries in 2023.

Ergonomics is much more than an office chair or a sit-to-stand desk. We can find examples of ergonomics in all departments and tasks. Let’s take a look at what Ergonomics can do for you in preventing an injury.

Next, we have Safe Manual Material Handling, followed by Safe Resident Handling. In these segments we will capture some of the important techniques we can use like the “Power Position” or tips in moving residents.  We also have a great video where we show some “Chair Yoga”, something that could be done anywhere, at any time to help stretch those muscles.

The Refresher Lift for February is Desk Job. Each month we will be continuing to look at the 13 factors of Psychological Health and Safety plus the 2 extra factors for healthcare.  This month our focus is on the Protection of Physical Safety. You will learn our physical well-being can have a significant impact on our psychological well-being.
